The fire that begins
✦ ✦ ✦
There are new moons, and then there are new moons. This one is the latter.
The New Moon in Aries arrived on April 17 at 27° — and it did not arrive quietly. It came flanked by an extraordinary stellium: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, and Chiron, all gathered in the sign of the Ram. Seven celestial bodies in one sign. The sky has been building toward this for months. And now here we are, standing in it.
Here in the Southern Hemisphere, we receive this fire moon in the arms of early autumn — the season of release, of turning inward, of letting the year's first harvest come to rest. There is something quietly profound about that meeting. Aries says begin. Autumn says let go first. Together, they ask the deeper question: what do you need to release before you can truly start?

What Aries is asking of you
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. It is the original impulse — the spark before the thought, the movement before the plan. It is life saying yes before it knows what it's saying yes to. There is something primal and honest about Aries energy. It doesn't strategise. It doesn't wait for permission. It begins.
A New Moon in Aries is always a potent reset. But this one, at 27° and conjunct both Chiron and Eris, is something rarer. It is not simply asking you to begin. It is asking you what has been stopping you. And more pointedly: what have you been silencing — in yourself, about yourself — in order to keep the peace, to belong, to avoid the discomfort of being fully seen?
Eris, the slow-moving dwarf planet conjunct this lunation, is not a comfortable energy. She is the revealer of what has been left out, overlooked, or suppressed. She stirs disruption — not for the sake of chaos, but because the truth that hasn't been spoken tends to find its way to the surface eventually. Better to meet it consciously than to have it arrive uninvited.
This New Moon is not asking you to be braver than you are. It is asking you to be more honest than you have been.
Chiron, the wound, and the way through
Chiron has been travelling through Aries since 2018, and it sits right beside this New Moon. Chiron is often called the Wounded Healer — the one who cannot heal their own wound, but whose wound becomes the very source of their gift to others. In Aries, Chiron has been working with the places in us where beginning has felt unsafe. Where instinct has been silenced. Where the life force — the raw, unapologetic impulse to exist and express and create — has been stifled by fear, by old conditioning, by the inherited belief that we need to earn our right to take up space.
This New Moon brings that wound into direct contact with new light. Not to reopen it painfully, but to illuminate it differently. To ask: what if the very thing I've been most ashamed of, most guarded about, most reluctant to bring forward — is actually the beginning of something?
Healing under this lunation is not soft or subtle. It has the quality of fire — quick, clarifying, and irreversible. Once you see something clearly, you cannot unsee it. That is the gift and the challenge of this sky.
The stellium — seven planets in one sign
To have seven planetary bodies gather in a single sign is remarkable. The collective weight of that concentration is hard to overstate. Every area of life that Aries governs — identity, initiation, the self, the body, courage, truth-telling, new directions — is receiving an enormous influx of energy simultaneously.
You may have been feeling this already. A sense of urgency without a clear direction. An intensity that is hard to name. Old questions resurfacing. The feeling of being at a threshold, even if you're not sure what's on the other side.
That is the stellium doing what stelliums do — concentrating light until something becomes impossible to look away from.
Pluto in Aquarius, forming supportive sextiles to multiple planets in this stellium, adds a quieter but deeply significant undercurrent. Transformation is available — not imposed, but available. The kind that happens when you stop pretending something isn't true.

Working with this New Moon · A Practice Section
New Moons are times of seeding — of planting in the dark before the light returns. With so much Aries fire present, the temptation will be to act immediately. But the most powerful work of this lunation may actually be internal: clarifying what you truly want to begin, and what you need to release first to make room for it
✦ Ritual & Practice Ideas ✦
✦Write a truth letter. Not to send — just to write. Begin with the words: "What I have not been saying is..." and let it move without editing. Aries and Eris together ask for the unguarded version. Burn it, bury it, or keep it — but write it first.
✦Name one beginning. Not a list. One thing. The one that has been waiting longest. Write it on paper and place it somewhere you will see it for the next lunar cycle. Not as pressure — as a reminder that you said yes.
✦Move your body. Aries is a fire sign — it lives in the body and it moves. Go for a walk with no destination. Shake your hands, your arms, your whole self. Let the physical body participate in the reset, not just the mind.
✦Sound and stillness. After movement, come to stillness. Let tone or bowls or simply humming bring you back into your centre. Fire energy needs an anchor. Sound is one of the gentlest and most effective ways to come home to yourself after a period of intensity.
✦Journal prompts for this lunation.✦
Where have I been silencing myself?
What wound am I being invited to see differently?
What does beginning feel like in my body — and what does it feel like when I resist it?
What would I do if belonging wasn't part of the equation?
You do not need to have answers. This New Moon is not a test. It is an opening — one that will continue to unfold over the next six months as the seeds planted now begin to take root and reach toward light.
Sit with the questions. Let the fire be curious rather than consuming. That is how this one wants to be met.

If this lunar cycle is stirring something in you and you want support in moving through it, I'd love to hold space for you in a sound session.
New Moons are powerful times to work with sound — the dark of the moon creates a particular kind of receptivity in the body, and sound moves through that openness in ways that thought simply cannot. Whether you are sitting with something tender from Chiron's presence, feeling the charge of the stellium, or simply wanting to ground into what this season is asking of you — there is space for you here.
Tranquil Tones sound sessions are open. Group circles and private sessions available. Come and let the sound do what words cannot.
